Health, Safety & Wellbeing

At Ferrovial Agroman UK and Ireland, the health, safety and wellbeing of our staff, workforce and local communities is our main concern as a business. We work tirelessly to ensure that every single one of us gets home safely every day and is able to live and work in a healthy environment.

Stay safe for life

Our Behavioural Safety Programme LIFE lies at the heart of the business. It is a holistic approach to implementing Health, Safety & Wellbeing best practice throughout our business - not only at work, but also at home. It empowers employees and promotes leadership at all levels of our organisation.

Looking for an incident free environment. Stay safe for life

Looking for an Incident Free Environment (LIFE) to us means that we are constantly designing fresh and innovative ways to train and remind our employees of best practice and where any decision affecting production, cost and time has to be taken within the context of safety, which is a non-negotiable value.

Ferrovial Agroman UK and Ireland works on the basis of a Safety Management System, which is certified to OHSAS 18001 standard relating to managing Health and Safety, as expressed in our policy.

Mental Health and Wellbeing

We understand that a happy and healthy workforce is in everyone’s interests. To ensure we all have access to any services we need to maintain a healthy mental outlook, we have implemented a number of measures to give employees the resources and support they need across our business.

  • Employee Assistance Programme: We have teamed up with Axa to provide our employees with 24/7 independent support and advice for all manner of life management issues, from the most practical to clinically qualified counselling and therapeutic help for times of need.
  • Mental Health First Aid Programme: As part of our Mental Health First Aid programme, every 6 months, we train members of our workforce to be able to act as mental health first aiders and ensure that we are all aware and looking out for each other. Our first aiders ensure that we do away with the stigma around mental health and are skilled at spotting and reaching out to those in need, supporting those members of our team who may be experiencing some difficulties.
  • Wellbeing Day: Our biannual wellbeing day brings together our employees' family and friends in a day of exercise, sports competitions and healthy barbecue food.
  • National Health & Wellbeing Week: We are founding members of the national campaign which focuses on improving health and wellbeing in the workplace and raising awareness around related issues. Every October, we deliver a week’s worth of activities, workshops and support to all our employees at all worksites on this theme.
